Georgie is killed by the clown Pennywise, while reaching into the dark drain to retrieve his paper boat from the evil clown. Then in the following summer, Bill and his two friends are bullied by a gang and Bill asks his friends to come to the marshy wastelands to see if his younger brothers body washed up there.
3. A recognition that the disorder has occurred
A kid called Ben Hanscom learns that the town has been plagued by unexplained child disappearances for years. He runs into Bill and his friends, and joins their group. Two other people join the 'losers' group- Beverly Marsh and African american student Mike Hanlon. After each member of the group encounters terrifying phenomena in various forms, they finally realize that they are all being terrorized by the same entity called "Pennywise the Dancing Clown". They also find out that the clown awakens every 27 years to feed on the children of Derry before returning to hibernation.
4. An attempt to repair the damage of the disruption
The Losers Club descend into the sewers and find the underground lair of the clown, and they find Beverly in a cationic state. Pennywise attacks the group and takes Bill hostage. After reaffirming their friendship and overcoming their various fears and rescuing Bill, the manage to defeat Pennywise after a brutal battle and he retreats. Billy then finally accepts his brothers death and is comforted by his friends.
5. The NEW equilibrium
As the Summer ends, Beverly informs the group that she had a vision that they were still fighting the clown when they are adults. The group of friends swear an blood oath that they will return to Derry as adults and if the clown returns, destroying it once and for all. Before Beverly leaves to go and live with her aunt, Bill reveals his feelings and they kiss.
