Something in the mirror

Logline: A mirror, A murder, A family destroyed by the unexpected.

Introduction to key characters:

1. Ann = Murdered by her psychotic mother and her soul is trapped in the mirror, she is cursed. She wants to be loved and set free by taking over Alice’s soul and living her life.
2. Harriet = The mother of Ann. She suffered from a mental disorder and brutally murdered her daughter.
3. Alice = She is a young and bright girl, she is much loved by her family. She becomes an innocent victim of Ann and in the end gets killed.
4. Jessica = She is a busy and thoughtful wife and mum. She does what it takes to rescue her daughter from the clutches of Ann.
5. Ryan = A businessman and an unbeliever of the dark arts and the supernatural. He is willing to do anything to save his wife.
6. Elise = the sister of Jessica and is a spirit summoner. She holds a séance and contacts Ann’s mother and seeks help on how to stop Ann from committing her diabolical plan.

Act 1:

A family of three moves into their ancestry home which they refurbished. Ryan is the husband who got promoted and so they moved here. Jessica is the wife and they have one daughter named Alice.  While unpacking and moving in, Alice goes down to the basement as she hears voices calling her. While exploring she sees an old mirror hanging up on the wall.

A young girl who was brutally murdered by her mother named Harriet, who had mental issues, curses the mirror. Her husband took her to a mental asylum where she later died in vain.  The young girl that was murdered cursed the thing her mother loved the most which was a handmade antique mirror given to her by her mother. The curse starts when it has been touched by a pure soul and Ann is free to come out of the mirror.

Act 2:

Alice sees Ann inside the mirror but in reality she is standing behind her. Feeling scared, she runs out of the basement to her father and tells him she saw Ann, and he disbelieves her and Alice cries and goes to her mother. She tells her mom and being so worried she goes downstairs to the basement and touches the mirror and sees the brutal murder of Ann by her mother.

After seeing this, Jessica is pushed by Ann from the mirror. Ann starts to crawl out of the mirror and we see her covered in blood and her body is disfigured. As she crawls her bones crackles. Jessica, fearing for her life, runs out of the basement and locks the door and bumps into Ryan and starts to cry hysterically. Ryan comforts her and asks her what’s wrong and she tells him what happened. Ryan so worried, takes Jessica to the Doctors and they say that she has had a shock form something and prescribe her some injections.

Alice is at home alone and is colouring in her room and her back is towards a mirror. Ann, standing behind her, grabs her by the legs starts to drag her towards the mirror while she screams for help. Ryan and Jessica return home and Jessica find that Alice isn’t in her bedroom. She starts to scream and calls Ryan and they search the whole house but they don’t find her. Jessica sees blood covered foot prints on the floor and stop at the mirror in Alice’s room. Jessica calls her sister Elise who summons spirits. Elise tells them that the only way to break the curse is to go into the mirror and find Alice before she gets killed. Jessica decides to go into the mirror and sees that she is in the same house but in a different year (the same year that Ann gets brutally murdered).

To find out more on Ann, Elise calls out to Ann’s mother Harriet and she appears. Harriet looking scared and angry and twitches, she looks up at Ryan and Elise. She realises that she in her house and starts to shout and question them. Elise asks her what we can do to stop Ann because she has Alice. In shock, Harriet tells them that it is impossible to stop Ann, she will kill you all, and she wants to be loved.

The scene cuts to Jessica and her daughter in the mirror and they are about to witness the death of Ann. Before Ann dies, she has control over the mirror, so she switches souls with the person who is most loved (Alice). So Alice dies in Ann’s body and Ann watches through Alice’s body with a devilish smirk. Alice dies but her soul is trapped within the mirror, and Jessica and Ann (in Alice’s body) escape back to their time.

Act 3:

They fall out of the mirror and it shatters. Ryan hugs Jessica and Ann in delight, they all then leave the basement. Elise follows behind Alice and notices that her hands are a grey/pale colour and the camera travels up Alice’s body and zooms into her face and we see her smirking demonically at Elise.
